Two of Penn State Scranton’s nursing faculty, Theresa Baker and Allison Tomczyk, have each recently obtained their doctor of nursing practice (DNP) degree and now also hold the title of assistant teaching professor of nursing.
Jody Griffith, assistant teaching professor of English at Penn State Scranton, presented highlights of her nonfiction book of literary analysis, "Victorian Structures - Architecture, Society and Narrative," at this semester’s second Brown Bag Lunch Seminar last month and to the campus’ Advisory Board earlier this month.
Assistant Teaching Professor of Business James Wilkerson recently assisted the local nonprofit United Neighborhood Centers of NEPA with conducting an employee engagement survey on the organization's practices, strengths and weaknesses. The effort resulted in over 86% of employees completing the survey, which will will be used to identify UNC is doing well and which areas need improvement.
Penn State Scranton's musical groups will present their annual spring concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at The Theater at North in Scranton. Those attending will enjoy performances by the Penn State Scranton Chorale, the Roc[k]tet, and Campus Jazz Band. Admission to the performance is free and open to the public.
Penn State Scranton has partnered with Leadership Lackawanna to offer a new program for high school juniors and seniors in Lackawanna County called Leadership U, which offers a general education, three-credit college course — CAS 100A: Effective Speech.
Penn State's sexual misconduct climate survey will close on April 22. The survey was sent to a random sample of students at all Penn State campuses; students can check their Penn State email for a link to complete the survey. The University-wide survey is designed to assess issues of sexual assault, misconduct and harassment.
Singer and actor Jesse McCartney will perform at Penn State Scranton on Thursday, April 21. Tickets are free for Penn State Scranton students, $10 for students from other universities and Penn State campuses, $15 for Penn State Scranton faculty and staff, and $25 for the public.
Each year, Penn State recognizes outstanding faculty and staff with annual awards in teaching and excellence. These awards highlight many of the faculty and staff who go above and beyond.
Renae McNair, assistant teaching professor of psychology at Penn State Scranton and Karen Sofranko, director of academic services and retention at Penn State Hazleton, have been selected to receive the 2022 Penn State Excellence in Advising Award.
