2 + 2 Degree Plan

Penn State gives you options.

No matter where you start, no matter where you finish, your degree will be a Penn State degree, one of the most respected in the country.

Some students choose to remain at one campus for all four years, while other students spend their first two years at one campus and transition to University Park or another campus for their remaining two years.  The vast majority of the University's 160 majors can be completed in this manner.  We call this the 2 + 2 plan, and it is the most common path for a Penn State degree (about 60% of Penn State students opt for this path in a typical year).

graduate headhsot. "I came back to graduate with the Penn State Scranton Class of 2019 because I never feel like just a number here. I know everyone and they know me by name, including Chancellor Wafa." ~ Margi Shah, '19.

Why the 2+2 option.

Getting started at Penn State Scranton affords you many great advantages. Your academic experience will be supported by small classes, a close-knit learning environment, and faculty who are experts in their fields. Our campus provides the opportunity for participation in athletics, activities, and student organizations. You will have access to the resources of a rigorous, world-class university in a welcoming, comfortable environment. You will work closely with an academic adviser to choose a course of study that will seamlessly transition to University Park or another campus, where you will begin your upper-division (junior- and senior-year) course work.
