Monday, Oct. 24, 2016 was named Dr. Marwan Wafa Day in Lackawanna County by the county commissioners for his work in promoting diversity and acceptance in our region. The announcement was made by former Scranton mayor Jim Connors at the United Nations Day luncheon hosted by the United Nations Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
This week is advising week! Make sure to get in touch with your advisers to schedule a meeting in preparation for the upcoming spring semester, and be sure to participate in some of the fun events we have planned as well, including the Halloween party on Wednesday, with a costume contest and free food.
Penn State Worthington Scranton hosted the 2016 Eastern Region Career Expo and Luncheon, which featured over 40 employers from around the region and connected students from five Penn State campuses to job and internship opportunities.
On Oct. 6, PSWS will join the rest of the Penn State community to kick off an ongoing University-wide initiative that brings students, faculty and staff together to show their commitment to cultivating a diverse and inclusive environment — respectful of everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, abilities, background, veteran’s status, political beliefs, and all the ways we differ.
Dr. Marwan Wafa, chancellor at Penn State Worthington Scranton, has named Angela Schuback, external relations assistant in University Relations, as the Employee of the Month for October.
Dr. P. Douglas Sellers II, assistant professor of psychology at Penn State Worthington Scranton, gave a presentation to the Visiting Nurse Association in Olyphant as part of their ongoing Lunch and Learn series.
The University is hosting a Town Hall from 3-5 p.m. Sept. 28 in the Pavilion Theatre at University Park. The meeting will be livestreamed for faculty and staff members at all Penn State campuses to view.
Penn State’s annual celebration of Constitution Day will take place on Friday, Sept. 16 at University Park, with events happening throughout the month of September across Penn State campuses.
The library staff at Penn State Worthington Scranton held an Open House event on the first day of national Banned Books Week, honoring both the resources that the PSWS campus library offers today's students, as well as celebrating people's right to read whatever books they choose.
