Penn State University Libraries awarded its Undergraduate Research Award: Excellence in Information Literacy to students at nearly all undergraduate Penn State campuses in April, honoring 97 undergraduate students as well as eight graduate students participating in their respective campus-wide research exhibition events.
On Wednesday, five students from the campus’ Corporate Communication program were inducted into the Penn State Scranton chapter of Lamda Pi Eta, the official honor society of the National Communication Association.
The campus' ninth annual free Nittany Lion's Children's Health Fair took place April 27 in the campus Multi-Purpose Building, drawing close to 100 area children along with their parents for a combination of treats, fun and useful information on staying healthy.

Penn State Hazleton hosted the ninth Eastern Regional Undergraduate Research Symposium, providing students from seven eastern universities the opportunity to display their research. More than 45 students participated in this year’s symposium.
Students, student groups, campus leaders, faculty and staff recently were honored for their contributions to the Penn State Scranton campus and local community at the annual Student Awards and Recognition dinner held on campus earlier this month.
The Penn State Scranton Chorale and Jazz Band, directed by Sharon Ann Toman, director of music and assistant teaching professor of music at Penn State Scranton, will present its Annual Spring Concert at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, at The Theater at North, North Main Avenue, Scranton.
The concert is free of charge and open to the public.
Janet Melnick, Penn State Scranton associate teaching professor of human development and family studies, was recently honored with the 2019 Penn State Excellence in Advising Award. Melnick was one of just two recipients throughout the University system to receive the honor. She was nominated by a student, who said Melnick truly values the time she spends with her 19 advisees.
