After successfully transitioning to remote delivery for the final half of the spring semester, Penn State Scranton is well positioned through the hard work of faculty and staff to continue the practice during the summer.
With the spring semester officially over, it is now time for many in our campus community to start looking ahead to the 2020-21 academic year — and that includes students. One group of students who were thinking a year ahead even as the spring semester was in full swing, were those involved with the Student Government Association, particularly the newly elected officers who will lead the SGA over the next year.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit earlier this semester, Penn State Scranton found itself not only dealing with the challenges of switching to remote delivery of classes and services, but also an increase in student need.
The Penn State alumni family grew by more than 15,000 this past weekend as the University recognized its spring 2020 graduates in a livestreamed commencement ceremony, which took place on Saturday, May 9.
Graduating members of Penn State Scranton’s Lambda Pi Eta Alpha Epsilon Pi chapter received their honor cords recently during a virtual celebration. Lambda Pi Eta is the official honor society of the National Communication Association and currently, the only academic honor society at Penn State Scranton.
This semester, due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, students will be doing their finals at home on their computers. This creates a few potential challenges, such as inability to access physical library resources, faulty internet connections, and lingering stress from upcoming final exams.
Luckily, faculty and staff are doing their best to accommodate their students’ needs in these trying times -- through virtual means.
In an inspiring show of support, a large contingent of Penn State Scranton’s campus community logged onto their computers the evening of April 22 to celebrate the accomplishments of the student body.
