Penn State to begin spring semester remotely, delay in-person classes

Penn State has decided to delay the start of in-person classes and transition to a fully remote learning environment for the beginning of the spring 2021 semester at all campus locations. This decision was made following extensive analysis and scenario planning given worsening virus conditions nationally and across the state indicating predictions of rising hospitalization rates in the coming weeks.

12/8: Latest COVID-19 dashboard update available

Penn State has released updated COVID-19 dashboard results for the week of Nov. 27 to Dec. 3 and weekend testing results from Dec. 4 to 6. The dashboard will continue to be updated on Tuesdays and Fridays through the end of the fall semester.

Penn State Scranton seeks nominees for Excellence in Diversity Award

Penn State Scranton is currently seeking nominations for its Excellence in Diversity Awards, which will be presented at the sixth annual MLK Day Celebration honoring the life and work of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. The virtual ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, on Zoom. This year’s theme is “Love and Truth.”

Campus to focus on community service endeavors for #GivingTuesday

Penn State Scranton will again appeal to the generosity of its vast network of supporters as it participates in the University’s sixth #GivingTuesday initiative. This year’s #GivingTuesday will take place from 6:55 p.m. EST — 18:55 in military time, a nod to the year of Penn State's founding — on Nov. 30 until midnight on Dec. 1. For its 2020 #GivingTuesday project, Penn State Scranton is raising funds for its alternative break trips and myriad community service projects.

Scranton names two new members to Advisory Board

Chancellor Marwan Wafa has announced the addition of two new members to Penn State Scranton’s Advisory Board -- Paul S. Cavaliere, program management director at Lockheed Martin in Archbald; and Robert Hettes, director of flu operations at Sanofi Pasteur in Swiftwater.
