DUNMORE, Pa. — Penn State Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa has announced that Dharti Ray, coordinator of co-curricular programs, has been named the campus' Employee of the Month for May.
Assistant Athletic Director Sara Rinkunas nominated Ray, stating: "I am nominating Dharti for this role because she has been a steadfast voice of support for the students during this difficult time. Dharti runs the social media for student services, as well as hosting forums and events to address the issues facing our world right now. Effective communication is highly important during a time of crisis and serves as a guiding light for those looking for support and answers and Dharti has done an excellent job of informing the campus community as well as showing support for them through her work in student services, particularly since going remote amid a pandemic, and then again during social unrest.
"She keeps us all up to date on events and information in easily digestible ways (which is hard during a time when news and info is constantly changing with little answers), she hosts Diversity Circles and other important discussions, and leads campus student leadership in working to take action and use their roles to support and influence change and inclusivity. She is also someone I regularly call upon to look over my communication work as a second pair of eyes and helps me to find calm in the midst of communicating with students during this unprecedented and changing climate.”
Congratulations, Dharti!
The Employee of the Month recognition was initiated in 2016 by Wafa as a way of distinguishing staff members who "go above and beyond the call of duty" in serving Penn State Scranton.
Campus staff, faculty and students are encouraged to nominate staff members that deserve to be recognized for “going above and beyond.” The link for nominations is: https://scranton.psu.edu/form/employee-month-nomination-form.
