A new research program for students will be launched this coming fall: The Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses Undergraduate Student Research Fund aims to support student-led projects in different fields. Participants will acquire hands-on experience in research, scholarship, and artistic efforts. They will be responsible for creating their own research problems, study proposals, methodologies, and presenting their findings.

Ten Penn State organizations will co-sponsor the 12th annual Penn State Day at Knoebels Amusement Park in Elysburg, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, May 20. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. at Pavilion M. The program will begin at 11 a.m., which includes lunch, a performance by the Alumni Blue Band, an appearance by the Nittany Lion, and prize raffles. This event is open to Penn State alumni, family and friends.

Jennie Levine Knies, associate dean for Commonwealth Campus Libraries and head librarian for the Scranton Campus Library at Penn State Scranton, has received the Distinguished Service Award from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC). MARAC is a nonprofit, volunteer-run association of archivists and cultural heritage professionals throughout the mid-Atlantic region whose work is centered on the administration, preservation, and use of archival records and related historical research materials.
This year’s Greater Scranton Penn State Chapter annual dinner will take place June 8 at Fiorelli's in Peckville and feature some well-known Penn Staters, while honoring the memory of Stephen “Doc” Weissberger, a man who was synonymous with the chapter and the ultimate Penn State fan.
