Dr. Jason Hanyon has established a scholarship at Penn State Scranton to benefit academically successful students with economic need. The $100,000 endowed scholarship utilized a First-Time Endowed Scholarship match from Penn State.
The 30th Annual Penn State Scranton Alumni Society/James D. Gallagher Golf Tournament will be held on Monday, June 18 at the Country Club of Scranton. Each year, Penn State Scranton honors those individuals from its staff, faculty and student body who have enriched the academic fabric of the campus, with special awards that recognize their accomplishments in select disciplines and/or student leadership and service. The awards are presented each spring at a special dinner honoring the recipients.

Fred Aebli, information sciences and technology program co-coordinator and lecturer at Penn State Worthington Scranton, was one of this year's recipients of the 2018 George W. Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching.
The award, named after Penn State’s seventh president, honors excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
John Champagne, professor of English and chair of the Global Languages and Cultures program at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, has been named Penn State Laureate for the 2018-19 academic year.
