DUNMORE, Pa. — Nursing faculty at Penn State Scranton recently welcomed the program’s newest nursing graduates into the nursing profession during the annual pinning ceremony.
The pinning ceremony, an annual tradition at Penn State Scranton, is a symbolic welcoming of newly graduated nurses into the nursing profession. Nursing faculty present the new graduates with the Penn State College of Nursing's official pin.
The pins are not a required part of any nursing uniform; however, in honor of tradition, most students will wear their pins after they graduate and begin working as professional nurses.
This year’s class of nurses is the last to graduate from Penn State Worthington Scranton, as the campus’ name officially became Penn State Scranton on May 1.
Another campus tradition is a group photo of the nursing graduates, in their uniforms, taken on the stairwell alongside the library, which houses the nursing program.
