Instructional Designer Griff Lewis is Penn State Scranton's June 2023 Employee of the Month.
DUNMORE, Pa. — Penn State Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa has announced that Instructional Designer Griffith Lewis has been named the campus' Employee of the Month for June.
“Griff Lewis is always professional, kind and willing to lend a helping hand or share his knowledge and technical skills. He is someone I call upon regularly if I have a question or need an opinion about something I am working on. Griff’s dedication to Penn State Scranton students, faculty and staff is evident in his demeanor, but especially during the spring semester,” said Shannon Williams, multimedia specialist, explaining Lewis’ instrumental role in supporting the Undergraduate Research Fair and Exhibition Committee and the Academic Affairs office in organizing the annual Undergraduate Research Fair. “The same dedication and attention to detail is evident as he coordinates the livestreaming of Penn State Scranton's commencement ceremony,” she added.
“Griff is an employee who often steps out of his role as instructional designer to help others on campus with a variety of projects and programs. Each spring semester, Griff gets involved with the Undergraduate Research Fair. He helps students with their poster content, and then prints and laminates all the student poster entries for the fair,” wrote Marilee Mulvey, director of information technology. “While these tasks are not in his job duties, he often spends long hours in front of a hot laminating machine to preserve our students' posters and make them look good for the fair. Griff's efforts in supporting this program are "above and beyond" and he does it all with a friendly smile for our students and faculty.”

The Employee of the Month recognition was initiated in 2016 by Wafa as a way of distinguishing staff members who "go above and beyond the call of duty" in serving Penn State Scranton.
