Penn State Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa has announced that Multimedia Specialist Shannon Williams is the campus' Employee of the Month for September.
DUNMORE, Pa. — Penn State Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa has announced that Shannon Williams, a multimedia specialist in the campus' Information Technology department, has been named Penn State Scranton's "Employee of the Month" for September.
Each month nominations are received in the chancellor's office for employees whose peers feel they have gone above and beyond in their job duties.
In nominating Williams, Director of Strategic Communications Amy Gruzesky wrote: “This year, the University took on a complete revamping of all campus websites and established a very aggressive timeline for the work to be completed. The changes included a new format and layout, the need for new graphics and photos and changes to content across most of our campus webpages. At our campus, the bulk of the work for this project fell to Shannon, and she had to take on this huge project during the busiest semester of the academic year. Despite the timing and the considerable increase in her workload, she somehow managed to meet all of the deadlines and requirements for this special project, while also keeping up with all of her other duties and responsibilities. And, she has not stopped there. When the new website was revealed, it was met with praise and excitement from all areas of the campus; however, Shannon continues to tweak things on an ongoing basis and remains committed to maintaining the site in a way that keeps things fresh and up-to-date, with a very sharp eye and commitment to consistency, detail and follow-through. Thanks to her efforts, it has become a key marketing tool for our campus.”
Director of Student Services and Engagement Matt Nied stated: “Shannon Williams is always willing to help no matter what the project is. Her commitment and design skills have exceeded our expectations. She is easy to work with, and she works diligently to complete projects in a timely manner. Shannon has collaborated with the Student Engagement team on numerous projects, designing the NSO Part 2 postcard, revamping and staying current on our designated web space, among a host of other projects. Without Shannon’s help, guidance and creativeness, our presence would not be what it is.”

The Employee of the Month recognition was initiated in 2016 by Wafa as a way of distinguishing staff members who "go above and beyond the call of duty" in serving Penn State Scranton.
