A new bachelor of science degree in information technology will be offered beginning in the fall 2021 semester. The degree will replace the existing bachelor of science degree in information sciences and technology, which will be phased out over the next four years.
On Oct. 21 the Sherbine Lounge in the Penn State Scranton Study Learning Center had different areas transformed into a living room, kitchen and bedroom, along with an informational component at each one on how domestic violence manifests in a home environment.
The campus Corporate Communication Club is partnering with Valhalla Veterans Services to fundraise for Valhalla’s second annual Fall Ball on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Genetti Manor in Dickson City. Club members are working to secure gift baskets and raffle items that can be donated for the Nov. 20 event and are asking the campus community to consider donating items for this worthy cause.
The Student Organization of Latinos will celebrate Día de los Muertos, or The Day of the Dead, with a special event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, on the patio of the Study Learning Center. All are welcome to attend.
Michael Sidney Fosberg, founder of Incognito Inc., grew up believing he was white; then, in his early 30s, he learned that he is actually Black. On Thursday, Nov. 4 at noon in the Study Learning Center’s Sherbine Lounge, he will present, “Nobody Wants to Talk About It – Race, Identity and the Difficulties in Forging Meaningful Conversations”.

The HDFS Community Club, the Campus Activities Board, and the Student Nurses Association at Penn State Scranton are putting together a food drive for students and their families during the holiday season. The food drive is now underway and will run until Nov. 19.
In alignment with the recent announcement from the White House on federal vaccination requirements, all Penn State employees at all locations are now subject to a federal COVID-19 vaccination requirement. The deadline for employees to receive their final dose of a vaccine is Jan. 4, 2022
The Penn State Scranton Indian Student Association, in coordination with Penn State Global, will be hosting a celebration of Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, on Sunday, Nov. 14.
