Two new workshops are available for Penn State Scranton students: one for students in the LGBTQA+ community to meet and provide support for fellow students, and one on learning how to increase mindfulness and reduce stress.

On Feb. 3, all students, faculty and staff members at every Penn State campus location will receive an email to take the Penn State Community Survey to share their attitudes and experiences of community, diversity and inclusion at Penn State. Every 100 survey takers will have a chance to win an Amazon or Starbucks gift card.
Launching on Feb. 3, the Penn State Community Survey is an opportunity for all students, faculty and staff members at Penn State's campuses to provide confidential feedback on their experiences and perspectives related to community, diversity and inclusion. Penn State Scranton will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with its fifth annual MLK Day Luncheon and Excellence in Diversity Awards ceremony at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, in The View Cafe, followed by a day of service.
Penn State Scranton increased its outreach to the local military community when it hosted its first Veterans Employment and Education Conference on Nov. 7. The all-day event featured “Green Zone” training for local employers, as well as career counseling workshops for area veterans and active-duty military personnel.
Penn State Scranton recently held its most recent round of Diversity Circles with participants that included campus students and staff members, as well as local community members. The Diversity Circles are overseen by trained facilitators and are meant to foster a more inclusive perspective among participants.
Penn State Worthington Scranton celebrated Martin Luther King Jr.'s memory by hosting a special diversity event on campus, featuring diversity-themed presentations and special break-out sessions aimed at getting students, staff, faculty and community members engaged in helping to increase diversity efforts and foster greater understanding of different cultures.
Penn State Worthington Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa and his daughter, Ala’a Wafa, have been named the recipients of the 2016 William R. Laws Human Rights Award. The Laws Award is Columbus’ highest human rights award.
