Counseling and Psychological Services
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at at Penn State Scranton is committed to supporting the emotional, psychological, educational, social and cultural development of our students.
We provide short-term counseling options for academic and personal concerns, as well as proactive programming and consultation during the Fall and Spring semesters.
Office Hours:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Telehealth services are available by request.
Personal Counseling for Students
Our licensed counselor is on campus during the Fall and Spring semesters to assist all our students with group and individual counseling, crisis intervention, and case management. All counseling services are confidential and available to students at no cost.
When it comes to protecting your information, Counseling and Psychological Services follows all professional standards and state and federal laws. Information shared with the therapist is held in the strictest confidence consistent with professional and ethical standards and state and federal law. Therapists will not release information without the client's signed consent except in rare instances where sharing is required by law (such as to save a human life, to report child sexual abuse, or to comply with a court order). We provide short-term individual services on campus. However, we often refer students with ongoing or chronic conditions to private practitioners in the local community.
