Develop as a standout leader on campus and help new students get acquainted with Penn State.
During New Student Orientation, first-year students learn about student services, academic life, academic advising, and they receive their class schedule. This event is also an opportunity for current students to get involved with the campus community, meet the incoming class and make new friends by becoming an orientation leader.
New Student Orientation (NSO) Leaders are an integral part of welcoming new first-year students and their families to campus during the New Student Orientation program. Student leaders serve alongside faculty and staff to assist new students with the transition into the Penn State Scranton community.

Qualifications to be an NSO Leader
Full-time degree seeking students enrolled in at least their second-year and in good academic standing with the University are qualified to be NSO leaders.
Time Commitment and Training
Orientation Leaders can expect introductory training right at the close of the spring semester and will have responsibility to report to campus at various times throughout the summer for multiple New Student Orientation programs.
This is more than just training; it’s a fun opportunity to become well-versed in all things related to our university, including campus resources and community expectations. Plus, you’ll get the opportunity to bond with fellow teammates and build deeper connections and friendships to last a lifetime.
