DUNMORE, Pa. — Penn State Scranton honored its high achieving students at a special Dean’s List Luncheon on March 14. All students who achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher in the Fall 2023 semester were invited to attend and received certificates for their accomplishment.
Assistant Director of Student Services and Engagement Dharti Ray said the event was a special way to really celebrate and recognize the dean’s list students and all the hard work they've put into their studies.
“We are proud of their academic achievement of maintaining a 3.5 or above GPA. Students from various semester standings have made it to the Dean's List. This event will celebrate and recognize their dedication towards their education," Ray said. "We also want to say a special thank you to the faculty members who assist students on a daily basis.”
Associate Professor of Biology and Honors Program Coordinator Meg Hatch gave a speech about the importance of learning and working hard to achieve good grades — not just for the easy "A," but for the enhancement of the students' lives.
“If a grade’s only value is what you can get with it rather than what went into earning it, the grade isn’t worth as much," Hatch said. "So, I hope you continue to earn and celebrate good grades and high GPAs not because of what you will get out of those grades, but rather what you put into earning them, and the satisfaction of a job well done.”
While the event was attended by several dozen deans list students, there were more than 290 students who attained the rank of dean's list last fall. The full list of dean’s list students for the Fall 2023 semester is as follows:
