Record 83 undergraduates receive 2017 Erickson Discovery Grants

Eighty-three students from across Penn State’s campuses will each be awarded a $3,500 Erickson Discovery Grant for summer 2017 through the Office of Undergraduate Education. The students will use the funds to immerse themselves in original research, scholarship, and creative work under the direct supervision of a faculty member.

Distracted driving victim speaks to students in 'Death and Dying' class

Dave Bieri, who suffered life-threatening injuries in a car accident caused when he reached for his dropped cellphone, spoke to a Nursing 464 class about distracted driving, his personal experience in overcoming his injuries, and the impact the doctors, nurses, surgeons, therapists and medical personnel had on his recovery.

Dave Bieri shows students a photograph of the car he was in when he had his distracted driving accident.  The car was demolished and it took rescuers several hours to free him from the wreckage.

Penn State students from seven Commonwealth campuses presented their research during the seventh annual Penn State Eastern Regional Undergraduate Research Symposium.
