Penn State Scranton's students, faculty and staff came together on Martin Luther King Jr. Day to honor the life of the civil-rights icon, assassinated more than 50 years ago. The fifth annual MLK Day Luncheon and Excellence in Diversity Awards celebrated the efforts of the campus and community to continue to work toward King’s dream of a more racially and socially just America.
On Friday, Jan. 24, the campus' Community Events Series will present the educational program, “Telling and Understanding Anthracite’s Unique Story,” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Hawk Lecture Hall of the campus’ Business Building at Penn State Scranton.
Three speakers will give illustrated presentations on a different facet of local anthracite history during a special panel discussion on Friday, Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hawk Lecture Hall in the campus' Business Building. The event is free and open to the public.
Michael M. Evans, assistant dean for undergraduate nursing education at the Commonwealth Campuses and associate teaching professor of nursing in Penn State University’s College of Nursing, has been named the Penn State Scranton Alumni Society’s 2019 Alumnus of the Year. Evans will be honored Thursday, Feb. 20, at a special reception beginning at 7 p.m. in the campus’ K. Bruce Sherbine Lounge, in the Study Learning Center.
