There are a number of reasons students consider transferring from their current college. Are you a Transfer Student?

Transfer status is based on credits earned after high school graduation. To be considered a transfer student, you should have earned a high school diploma, or the equivalent, and have attempted 18 or more credits at another regionally accredited college or university before enrolling at Penn State.

  1. Eligible students can transfer into one of the majors at the Scranton campus. 
  2. With the completion of approximately 60 credits, eligible students can transition to the University Park campus to complete one of approximately 275+ degree programs.
  3. With the completion of approximately 60 credits, eligible students can transition to one of our other Commonwealth Campuses to complete any of their degree programs.

Admission decisions for transfer students are made on the basis of several combined factors:

  • Earned a high school diploma or a GED. 
  • Have completed 18 or more college credits.
  • A minimum GPA of 2.0; however, certain academic programs require a higher GPA or specific prerequisite course work.
  • Choice of major. Some programs may not be eligible for transfer students.
