Sara Rinkunas, coordinator of athletic programs, is the January Employee of the Month at Penn State Worthington Scranton.
DUNMORE, Pa. — Athletics Program Coordinator Sara Lynn Rinkunas has been named the Penn State Worthington Scranton January Employee of the Month by Chancellor Marwan Wafa.
Marilee Mulvey, director of information technology at PSWS, nominated Rinkunas for the honor.
"I have only recently begun to understand all that Sara does in Athletics," Mulvey said in her nomination. "Her position is not 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. During the sports season, she can work any day of the week, in the evenings and on weekends, whenever there is a game or competition, so that she can support the student athletes and their coaches. She is the go-to person for everything in athletics.
"In addition to her regular duties, Sara has contributed greatly to our campus website by taking photos of events and groups and by doing all the individual photos for faculty and staff, and she manages to fit that in her already-packed schedule. I think Sara’s commitment to Penn State Worthington Scranton, especially to our student athletes, coaches and administrators is a fabulous example of going above and beyond and I’m happy to nominate her for this recognition."
The Employee of the Month recognition was created by Chancellor Wafa as a way of distinguishing campus staff who "go above and beyond the call of duty" in serving Penn State Worthington Scranton.
