Spring 2024 student academic marshals announced at Penn State Scranton

With commencement less than a month away, Penn State Scranton's Class of 2024 is gearing up for the event and our Registrar's Office has announced the academic marshals for each academic program. Students with the highest grade point average (GPA) are named as marshals for their discipline and will lead the other program graduates into the ceremony.

DUNMORE, Pa. — When Penn State Scranton celebrates its 56th commencement ceremony on May 4 at The Scranton Cultural Center, it will continue its long-standing tradition of having student marshals from each academic program lead their fellow graduates in the commencement ceremony procession. The student marshals are the students from each academic program with the highest grade point average (GPA) and will have the added honor of carrying their program's official banners into the ceremony as well. 

Campus registrar Allison Burns recently announced the student marshals for the Spring 2024 commencement. They are:

  • Alexandra Bousell, English, B.A.
  • Ryan Carrotto, Project and Supply Chain Management, B.S.
  • Erica Davis, Information Sciences and Technology, B.S.
  • Justin Doreman, Corporate Communication, B.A.
  • Abigal Gaebel, Biology, B.S.
  • Luke Gardiner, Business, B.S.
  • Gretchen Gilia, Human Development & Family Studies, B.S.
  • Antonio Pugliese, Mechanical Engineering, B.S.
  • Ashley Torres, Psychology, B.A.
  • Grace Ursich, Nursing, B.S.N.

In addition to having attained the highest GPA in their discipline, these students are also recognized for their academic excellence and significant contributions to student life at Penn State Scranton. Together, they represent a diverse array of disciplines, showcasing their hard work, camaraderie and determination. Their leadership during the commencement procession symbolizes the culmination of their achievements and the promise of a bright future.
