DUNMORE, Pa. — This week more than 200 IT professionals from across the University will be at Penn State Scranton for the annual Penn State Tech Pros/Web Pros Conference, along with more than 20 national vendors, including Dell, Lenovo and Epson.
Tech Pros is a conference dedicated to frontline and backroom technical employees at Penn State and provides a unique and valuable professional development opportunity for them to learn about developing technologies, new delivery systems and best practices, while also creating development and networking opportunities for the University’s IT and web professionals.
This year’s conference kicks off on Wednesday, June 7, with additional sessions throughout the day on Thursday and Friday morning, ending at noon on Friday.
The conference is hosted by a different Commonwealth Campus each year. It is organized by Kari Williamson, director of IT in the Office of the Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses, along with a steering committee made up of IT staff members from several campuses and college and administrative areas at Penn State.
Penn State Scranton IT Director Marilee Mulvey is assisting the steering committee with the planning and organization of the conference at Penn State Scranton.
"I'm honored to work with my colleagues on the steering committee to bring this conference to Penn State Scranton,” she said. “It's a great event for technology professionals at Penn State and it's a privilege to host all of our colleagues from across the University here at the Scranton campus."
Presentations for the Tech Pros sessions will include a SysMan User Group (SMUG), which offers University technology professionals the opportunity to come together to celebrate, collaborate and commiserate on the many nuances of managing systems at Penn State. There will also be a Leadership Track offering sessions on: “The 6 Types of Working Genius” model; building trust; emotional intelligence; embracing new and emerging technology; and incorporating inclusive strategies in IT workshops/presentations.
Web Pros presentations will include sessions on “The Human Touch of AI in Education”; revolutionizing Cloud apps; incorporating inclusive strategies into IT workshops and presentations; powerpoint accessibility; emotional intelligence; and integrating live data into a website.
Tech Pros/Web Pros has been taking place annually for the Penn State IT community since 2010 and is now a much anticipated event that has seen increasing attendance and interest.
