Tuition Adjustment
The Bursar’s Office realizes there are times, whatever the reason, when students need to drop a course or withdraw from the University. In the event that this should occur, tuition is adjusted based on the following table:

  • Timeframe for course drop/withdraw: First week of classes = Tuition Refund 100%
  • Timeframe for course drop/withdraw: Second week of classes = Tuition Refund 75%
  • Timeframe for course drop/withdraw: Third week of classes = Tuition Refund 50%
  • Timeframe for course drop/withdraw: Fourth week of classes = Tuition Refund 25%
  • Timeframe for course drop/withdraw: Fifth week of classes and beyond = Tuition Refund 0%

Note: The table above is based on a standard 15 week course.

Payment Plan

Penn State offers an Installment Payment Plan. If a student has a balance due, this allows them to pay the balance over a 4-month period. A $45 non-refundable fee is charged to cover all administrative costs for the payment plan and is due with the first payment.

When you view your Student Account Statement in Lionpath/Higher One at the beginning of the semester, you will be given the option to use the installment plan. The statement will list billable costs and the most current known financial aid. The first one-fourth of billable costs is payable by the due date of the tuition bill. Payments can be made by e-check or credit card and will be automatically deducted on the 22nd of each month.
