The rooftops of a small village along the Adriatic Coast where PSWS Associate Professor Renee Bishop-Pierce has conducted her subterranean ecosystem research.
A diver surfaces with an archeological find just off shore from the anchialine cave where PSWS Associate Biology Professor Renee Bishop-Pierce was conducting her research several years ago. Ancient Romans used the anchialine caves in the Kornati Islands as sources of fresh water. Their broken pottery was simply discarded at the sites.
Dr. Renee Bishop-Pierce, associate professor of biology at Penn State Worthington Scranton, will return to Croatia and the Adriatic Coast this summer to continue her research on subterranean ecosystems.
