Penn State Schuylkill hosted the 2022 Penn State Eastern Regional Undergraduate Research Symposium on Saturday, April 23. Students from Penn State Abington, Brandywine, Hazleton, Lehigh Valley, Schuylkill, Scranton and York presented their work, with Schuylkill students placing first in two of the four disciplinary categories.
Penn State Scranton's Anime Club has become one of the campus' more popular clubs recently. In addition to anime, manga and graphic novels are also becoming more mainstream in 2022, and Penn State Scranton's library has answered the call for more of this type of literature, acquiring a number of manga-related graphic novels and nonfiction collections. The library's manga collection, started in 2016, is now considered a specialized collection within the University's library system.
Penn State Scranton alumnus Will Beekman has spent the past two decades building a highly successful career in the live entertainment industry. Currently, he serves as the general manager of Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre Twp.
Penn State Scranton nursing students and faculty have been actively volunteering in the community during the pandemic, working at a number of local flu and Covid-19 vaccination clinics, as well as doing other forms of community outreach, such as visiting residents in local nursing homes to spread good will and cheer during these challenging times.
Practice sessions for the campus' annual Holiday Concert with Penn State Scranton's Chorale, Jazz Band and Roc[k]tet looked a lot different this year than in year's past -- but that didn't dampen members' spirit or determination to put on the traditional musical performance. Instead of a live performance, community members can log onto a special website and listen to the performances starting Dec. 8.
