Public support matters for sustainable energy investments, researchers find

Penn State Scranton Assistant Professor of Business Nonna Sorokina gave a presentation on research exploring sustainable energy investments. The research involved collaboration with several colleagues, including Saya Lee, assistant professor in the Ken and Mary Alice Lindquist Department of Nuclear Engineering at Penn State, and Darshana Sunoj and Hyungjin Kim, graduates of the Penn State Department of Economics.

Student research showcased at Scranton Undergraduate Research Fair and Exhibition

Over 100 students showcased their research at Penn State Scranton’s 2025 Undergraduate Research Fair and Exhibition, held at the campus earlier this month. Students from a variety of academic disciplines participated in poster exhibits, panel discussions and presentations and artistic projects, with select faculty and staff judging the submissions and naming the winning projects.

Penn State Scranton students are ‘planting the moon’ in research challenge

Penn State Scranton’s Associate Professor of Biology and Biology and Science Program Coordinator Megan Van Etten and five students are working to find out what crops will grow best in space as part of the "Plant the Moon Challenge." They will present their work at the campus’ Undergraduate Research Fair and Exhibition today (April 9) and submit their final report to the national challenge on April 13.

Penn Staters invited to share feedback on draft Strategic Plan proposal

A draft proposal of Penn State’s institutional strategic plan has been unveiled and shared with the community for feedback and discussion. All faculty, staff and students at all campuses are encouraged to visit the Strategic Plan website to review and provide feedback on the draft plans for four goal areas.

Six faculty members receive 2024 Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching

Six Penn State faculty members have received the 2024 George W. Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching. They are Sommar Chilton, associate teaching professor of communication sciences and disorders in the College of Health and Human Development; Linda Istanbulli, Caroline D. Eckhardt Early Career Professor of Comparative Literature and assistant professor of comparative literature and Arabic in the College of the Liberal Arts; Siu Ling "Pansy" Leung, associate teaching professor of mechanical engineering in the College of Engineering; Kuei-Nuan Lin, associate professor of mathematics at Penn State Greater Allegheny; Sarah Nilson, assistant professor of biology at Penn State Beaver; and Kara Stone, assistant teaching professor of English at Penn State Scranton.

Professor's research focuses on employee retention in Vietnamese universities

Assistant Professor of Business Loan “Emily” Pham, recently presented her research during this semester’s first Brown Bag Lunch Seminar series at Penn State Scranton. Her talk, titled “Faculty's Turnover Intention in Vietnamese Public Universities: The Impact of Leader-Member Exchange, Psychological Safety, and Job Embeddedness,” explores the critical issue of employee turnover in Vietnamese public universities.
