Welcome Parents & Families

Dr. Marwan Wafa, ChancellorAs the parent, guardian, spouse or significant other of a Penn State Scranton student, you are a vital part of our campus' extended family. Pursuing a Penn State degree at the Scranton campus is an investment that will positively impact the well-being not only of the future of your student, but also that of the family, community, and state.

University graduates enjoy lifetime earnings that average $1,000,000 more than those who hold a high school diploma.
The academic programs at Penn State Scranton are designed to provide a blend of theoretical and practical learning experiences. The associate and baccalaureate graduates gain necessary skills and knowledge to prepare them for the challenges of the local and global business world.
If your student must continue his or her degree at another Penn State campus, the transfer process should be possible provided that all degree requirements are met.  Penn State Scranton offers many on-campus opportunities for your student that complement and enrich the in-class learning experiences. I hope you will urge and encourage your student to take full advantage of the many co-curricular opportunities that exist to help prepare for future life challenges.

Activities range from engagement through the Student Government Association to student clubs/organizations, to varsity and intramural athletics.
The rich diversity that students find here at Penn State Scranton expands their perspectives that are critical for today's global community.  Here, they can get to know and interact with the broad mix of students and faculty who come from more than 30 countries and from many parts of the United States.

We also invite speakers and offer fine arts events that enrich the overall learning experiences of our students and community. I hope that you will be able to join your student and make use of the exciting programs.
You, also, could become a Penn State Scranton student. This could be achieved by enrolling in a degree program, take classes that are for credit or not for credit, or sign up for continuing education programs.
I am always available to meet and speak with our students' family members. You can reach me by phone at 570-963-2539, or in person by calling Mrs. Marianne Gable, my administrative assistant, to schedule an appointment.
Welcome to Penn State Scranton. We are proud of the great Blue and White tradition of excellence and support that we provide to our students and community.

Sincerely,

Chancellor Marwan Wafa
