DUNMORE, Pa. — Penn State Scranton Chancellor Marwan Wafa has announced that Jo Ann Durdan, a staff assistant in the campus' Center for Business Development and Community Outreach, is the August Employee of the Month.
In her nomination, Coordinator of Community Relations and Communications Amy Gruzesky wrote: “As an adult student at Penn State Scranton, wife, mom and a full-time campus employee, Jo Ann has a lot on her plate, but she doesn’t let that affect her commitment to her job. She is always willing to do her fair share of things and more if needed or asked, and does so in a very professional and friendly manner.
"She is also always willing to go the extra step to make sure things are done right and approaches her job, co-workers and fellow students/clients with a friendly and welcoming manner.”
Regional Human Resources Director Lorrie Deffley said: “Jo Ann is a delight to work with. She is professional in all aspects of her work, and creates a welcoming environment in the Center for Business Development and Community Outreach, and in her interactions with others on campus. Her positive attitude and energy are infectious, and she is fearless when given new responsibilities.”
The Employee of the Month recognition was initiated in 2016 by Wafa as a way of distinguishing staff members who "go above and beyond the call of duty" in serving Penn State Scranton.
Congratulations Jo Ann!
