John Padula, campus police officer at Penn State Worthington Scranton, has been named the February employee of the month by Chancellor Marwan Wafa.
In his nomination, Director of Student Services and Engagement Brad Kovaleski said, "John's level of engagement with the students is remarkable. Not only does he pop into the game room and the cafeteria to say hello to students . . . he actually stops to have conversations with them. He takes the time to get to know our students."
Enrollment Specialist Stacy Shattuck, who is also the campus' cheerleading coach, said: "John is one of the nicest people ever. He is always so helpful and kind no matter what we ask of him. When my cheerleaders leave practice between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., he is almost always in the parking lot or gym to ensure all my girls are safe and know that someone is there to keep them safe."
The Employee of the Month recognition was created by Chancellor Wafa as a way of distinguishing campus staff who "go above and beyond the call of duty" in serving Penn State Worthington Scranton.
