Last month, the Greater Binghamton Chapter, Greater Scranton Chapter, Penn State Worthington Scranton Alumni Society, and the Wayne-Pike Chapter were honored by the Penn State Alumni Association during a special Volunteer Awards ceremony at University Park with the Joint Activities Award. They were one of 20 alumni groups and four individuals recognized for their inspiring work.
The four groups, all of whom are affiliated with Penn State Worthington Scranton, coordinated a tailgate and viewing event at the historic Circle Drive-In in Dickson City for Penn State’s game against Ohio State.
The event was a huge success, with over 400 vehicles packing the drive-in’s grounds to watch the game on the big screen. The joint activity raised over $2,000 and the groups collectively donated the proceeds to the campus’ Student Hardship Fund, which helps students who experience unanticipated hardship and need during the academic year that could threaten their ability to stay in school.
In addition to the Joint Activities Award, The Greater Scranton Penn State Chapter was also recognized as a 2016 Group of Distinction in the Elm Level, for having held programs in 14 to 15 categories.
Congratulations to all of the groups and their members for their hard work and commitment to Penn State, our campus, our alumni, and most importantly all they do for our current and future students.
WE ARE …. PENN STATE!!!
