Penn State Worthington Scranton will also host a Health Awareness Day on Wednesday March 28, 2007. The event will be co-sponsored by the North East Regional Cancer Institute and will include a full array of screenings and prevention resources.
Starting at 10:30 a.m. and running until 1:30 p.m., the event will held in the Cafeteria in the Study Learning Center. A representative from the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute will present a 30-minute lecture on colorectal cancer at 11:00 a.m. in the new Cafeteria Conference Center. The public is invited.
The Penn State Worthington Scranton Health Awareness Day will be a true community-wide event. Vision screenings will be conducted by The Blind Association of Northeast Pennsylvania. Cholesterol and Carbon Monoxide Screenings will be available through the Community Medical Center Life Care Department. Osteoporosis screenings will be provided courtesy of the NEPA Women's Health Alliance. The Women's Resource Center will provide information on relationship violence. Issues of alcoholism and drug addiction will be addressed by the Marworth Alcohol & Drug Rehabilitation Center. The Wyoming Valley Aids Council will discuss AIDS and HIV infection. Planned Parenthood will also provide health information during the event and the Penn State Cooperative Extension will offer information on good nutrition.
In addition, attendees will be able to have a massage, get a blood lipid analysis, blood pressure screening and also get information on Iridology and herbal therapy.
