Penn State Worthington Scranton Students Helping To Feed the Hungry

Penn State Worthington Scranton's Business Club is spearheading a month-long food drive called "Stuff the Bus" in which they are collecting food and monetary donations from the campus community and the community at large.

The students' goal is to collect/purchase enough food to completely fill a standard-sized passenger bus with non-perishable food items that they will then donate to The Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank and then accompany that bus to a Wilkes-Barre food pantry and help unload the items. The Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank has helped with other projects in the area, including another Stuff the Bus effort that has held annually at Bill's Shoprite in Daleville.

Boxes are located around campus; there will be one box in every building. Some local Business's have also helped in the effort by placing boxes on their premises. These local businesses include Mesko Glass, and St. Patrick's, Holy Ghost, and St. Michael's churches in Olyphant. Others have also expressed interest and will be listed in future updates on this effort.

The collection boxes will remain on campus until Tuesday, Nov. 3, the final day of the drive when the students will load all items collected onto the bus and deliver them to The Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank.

On November, 3 the bus will be on campus from 11-2 p.m. They ask that anyone willing to donate food visit Penn State Worthington Scranton in Dunmore and leave your non-perishable food items at the bus.

Anyone interested in helping in this effort is encouraged to contact the Penn State Worthington Scranton Business Club.  Both food and monetary donations are being accepted and greatly appreciated.  For more information, contact Edmund Brogenski, club president at [email protected], (570) 240-1317 or Joe, club vice president, at [email protected].
