Penn State Worthington Scranton's Community Service Club, formerly the CHSO (Community Human Service Organization) is hosting a Fun-Raising Night at the Friendly's restaurant in Dunmore from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 6. Included in the festivities will be free photos with Penn State's own Nittany Lion.
The purpose of the evening is to increase campus and local community awareness of the student group, and its efforts to make a difference in the lives of local residents. The Fun-Raising Night is open to both the campus community and members of the public.
In the past, the club has helped raise funds and collect donated items for local non-profits that service those in need, area veterans' groups, and worked with organizers of the annual Thanksgiving food giveaway at the Scranton Cultural Center, as well as Penn State-related charities and events, such as THON, the annual dance marathon that raises money for Hershey Medical Center's Four Diamonds Fund and children battling cancer.
With it's trademark saying, "It feels good to do good!" the group is hoping that the campus and local community will come out and visit Friendly's on that evening to learn more about the group and help it raise funds for its numerous charitable undertakings.
Friendly's has agreed to donate up to 20% of the proceeds raised during the 5 to 8 p.m. timeframe.
