New career counselor hired at Worthington Scranton

Jonathan Tobin is the new Coordinator, Career Development and Placement (Career Counselor) at Penn State Worthington Scranton.

He has more than 20 years of experience in higher education, having most recently been a graduate admissions counselor at Marywood University. He also served as the associate director of the Career Development Center at Shippensburg University for eight years and was an admissions director and counselor at Central Pennsylvania College.

In his new role at Worthington Scranton, Mr. Tobin will assist current students in career exploration, solidifying career and life goals, and obtaining the experiences and skills they need to provide for a smooth transition into the workforce after graduation. He will also work to develop and enhance relationships between students, faculty, employers and Penn State alumni.

In addition, he will also be responsible for career counseling services; educational programming in regards to career searches and exploration; preparing students for the job application and interview process; and job recruitment activities such as internships, job/internship postings and contacts, job search techniques, career fairs, and on-campus interview programs.

Mr. Tobin holds a master's degree in counseling with a concentration in student personnel from Shippensburg University and a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University.

He is also the owner and operator of That Shake Place in Jefferson Township.
