Kathy Fenton Zielinski has been named the Penn State Worthington Scranton Alumni Society's Alumna of the Year for 2013.
A 1985 graduate of Penn State with a Bachelor's degree in accounting from the Smeal College of Business, she is a founding member of the Penn State Worthington Scranton Alumni Society, which she has been active with for 28 years, most recently as president.
Mrs. Zielinski, a two-term president of the Penn State Worthington Scranton Alumni Society, has also served the group as a board member, vice president, treasurer and secretary.
In addition, she is an active participant in the group's fundraising activities, most notably the annual Breakfast with the Nittany Lion and James D. Gallagher Golf Tournament.
Mrs. Zielinski also serves as a finance committee member for Mary Mother of God Parish; a team captain for Susan G. Komen Race for the cure; a team leader for C.A.S.U.A.L. Day; a member of Lackawanna County Head Start's coat committee; a member of the Crystal Anniversary Event committee for the Children's Advocacy Center; and is an 18-year member and past treasurer of the USBC Bowling League.
She is employed as Firm Administrator at McGrail Merkel Quinn and Associates, Certified Public Accounting Firm, in Scranton and was previously a staff accountant for the Scranton School District; business office manager at Holy Family Residence, Scranton; and a staff accountant for the Scranton-Lackawanna Human Development Agency.
She is married to Bill Zielinski and the couple has two children, Kaitlin and Michael.
The Penn State Worthington Scranton Alumni Society will honor her at a special reception on Feb. 17.
