Nursing faculty present at 2014 Nuts and Bolts for Nurse Educators Conference

Michael Evans, MSN, MSEd, RN, ACNS, CMSRN, CNE, assistant chief academic officer and instructor in nursing, and Donna Volpe, BSN, MSN, instructor in nursing, recently attended, and presented at, the 2014 Nuts and Bolts for Nurse Educators Conference in Minneapolis, MN.

Presenters at the conference shared information on strategies to improve classroom, clinical, and lab learning environments, which Mr. Evans and Ms. Volpe will be able to implement with their students.

In addition, both Mr. Evans and Ms. Volpe presented posters at the conference.

Mr. Evans presented a poster entitled "Collaborative Learning: An Opportunity for Professional Growth of the Student Nurse While Caring for Local Community Residents" based on annual health fairs provided by the nursing faculty and students at Worthington Scranton to both geriatric and pediatric populations, funded through the Robert Y. Moffat Family Trust.

Ms. Volpe presented a poster, entitled "A Flipped Classroom Approach for Nursing Students to Promote Active Learning" based on her innovative teaching strategies during the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 semesters with Worthington Scranton nursing students.

Ms. Volpe's poster won second prize at the conference.
