2015 Nittany Lion Free Children's Health Fair attracts over 100 to PSWS campus

The fifth annual Nittany Lion Free Children's Health Fair attracted over 100 children and their families to the Penn State Worthington Scranton campus on Saturday to take advantage of free health screenings, demonstrations, activities, free prizes and helpful health and wellness information.

The event is organized and run each year by PSWS' Nursing Department, with nursing faculty and students manning booths and interacting with participants to ensure they get the most out of the event.

This year, activities and booths included: effective hand-washing demonstration; healthy eating; healthy feet; scoliosis screening/back safety; injury prevention and exercise; dental hygiene; stroke recognition and prevention; sun and skin safety; community resources; height, weight and blood pressure screenings; and Fun with Reading.
Children were also able to tour an ambulance and fire truck, as well as walk through the Fire Safety Smoke House.

All children also received a free gift, and were entered into a raffle for additional prizes.

The annual health fair is sponsored in part through a grant from the Robert Y. Moffat Family Charitable Trust.
