Eileen Giovagnoli receives national Learning Center Leadership Certification

Eileen Giovagnoli, the campus' Learning Center coordinator, has attained Learning Center Leadership Certification - Level 3 from the National College Learning Center Association.

 

Learning Center Leadership Certification (LCLC) provides learning assistance professionals a nationally-recognized credential and set of standards through validation of their expertise in the field of learning assistance through external and objective review.

 

LCLC presents an interdisciplinary, comprehensive approach to recognizing the accomplishments of people in the field of learning assistance based on a series of benchmarks, experiences and training in the theories and best practices in learning assistance.

 

The Level 3 certification which Ms. Giovagnoli has attained is the third of four levels and requires a master's degree, six to 10 years' of professional learning assistance experience, a learning assistance statement, professional development plan and service to the profession through conference presentations and committee work.

 

Ms. Giovagnoli has served as Penn State Worthington Scranton's Learning Center coordinator since 2009, overseeing peer tutoring; writing assistance; study skills assistance; small group tutoring; and providing reference materials and a computer lab for students to use when taking advantage of the center's services. She also serves as a contact for students with disabilities.


She is a member of the Association for Tutor Professionals; the College Reading and Learning Assistance Association; and both the National and Pennsylvania Associations of Developmental Educators.

Ms. Giovagnoli received her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology/social work from East Stroudsburg State College and her Master of Social Work from the University of Georgia.


She resides in Waverly with her husband and two children.
