This virtual career exploration academy is perfect for high school students who are interested in criminal justice and law enforcement careers, as well as those interested in learning more about the criminal mind. The curriculum focuses on motives and causes for crimes, including a psychological perspective, and the criminal justice system response.
Criminal Minds takes students on a journey through the lives and minds of criminals. This is where psychology meets criminal justice.
This career exploration academy is offered in two parts. For summer 2021, all academies will be delivered via Zoom in collaboration with Penn State Schuylkill. Registration is $79 per course. PSU Staff/Faculty/Student/Alumni Discount available during registration process.
Criminal Minds I
July 12 - 16, 2021, 10:00 a.m. to noon daily
Introduces budding detectives and criminologists to portions of criminal justice and psychology that are specific to crime. Students will have the opportunity to:
- engage in personality testing,
- explore criminal profiling,
- and interact with guest speakers who work in the criminal justice field.
Criminal Minds II
July 26 - 30, 2021, 10:00 a.m. to noon daily
Criminal Minds II delves further into the depths of criminal minds by exploring historical cases of crime, the psychological ailments that implored them, and the crossover of how psychological disorders perpetuate crime.
