Ultra-modern engineering facility completed in Fall 2021.
Purchased by the campus in 2018, the building, the former Grainger industrial supply facility has undergone a nearly $9 million renovation for the campus Engineering Building.
In addition to the Mechanical Engineering program, it now houses the Center for Business Development and Community Outreach and the Police and Public Safety office.
The use of space in the Engineering Building was designed to be both efficient and aesthetically pleasing, including the state-of-the-art, hands-on engineering labs where faculty and students will work together on real-life projects.
There is a fabrication or ‘maker’ space where students can work with local companies, helping them develop possible new products. Unique features include study rooms, or ‘pods,’ where students can break out for individual or group study work.
Environmentally Friendly
Like any other University construction or renovation project, the Engineering Building features energy-efficient systems such as natural gas for the building automation system (BAS), occupancy sensors to adjust temperature outputs, and LED lighting with motion sensors.
