Michelle K. Schutt has been hired as the campus' director of student services where she will supervise financial aid, counseling, student activities, career services and student health.
She received her bachelor's degree from Upper Iowa University in English Education, a master's in English Education from Emporia State University, and a master's in Social Responsibility from St. Cloud State University. Ms. Schutt is in the process of completing her doctorate in College and University Leadership from Colorado State University.
Prior to joining Penn State Worthington Scranton, Ms. Schutt had previously worked at the University of Wyoming, where she served as the assistant director of residence life since 2007.
In that role, her responsibilities included overseeing the academic progress and retention of first-year students; collaborating with academic and student affairs to encourage student success and retention; and conducted training for programs for student support staff, faculty and students.
Her professional experience covers many aspects of student services, including: hiring and training; judicial affairs; conference services; student programming; new student orientation; budget oversight; and emergency response and crisis management.
Ms. Schutt has relocated to the area with her husband Clay and their three children. She and her family enjoy spending time outdoors, reading, and theatre.
