Dr. Alan Robinson, speaker for the Family Business Alliance at Wilkes University, spoke to Penn State Worthington Scranton students and regional business leaders, many of them family business owners about his recent research and book, The Idea-Driven Organization: Unlocking the Power In Bottom-up Ideas.
During his visit to Penn State Worthington Scranton, which was sponsored by the campus' Linde Family Business Mentoring Program, Dr. Robinson explained the process of gathering ideas that impact innovation and creativity through a company's greatest resource -- employees.
He focused on the fact that the vast majority of great ideas come from within your organization, particularly from those working on the front line and dealing with the day-to-day workings of the company, not upper level executives.
The crowd was given many examples, and learned that some of the most successful global companies have strategies in place to encourage employees to submit their ideas on how to improve their work environment and productivity.
