Dr. Jason J. Hanyon has been named the 2014 Alumnus of the Year by the Penn State Worthington Scranton Alumni Society. A reception was held in his honor on February 11 on campus.
He has been a long-time supporter of Penn State, the Penn State College of Health and Human Development and Penn State's local alumni organizations -attending and sponsoring programs and fundraising efforts of the Penn State Worthington Scranton Alumni Society and the Greater Scranton Penn State Chapter. He is also a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association.
Dr. Hanyon received his bachelor of science degree in nutrition in 1998 from Penn State, and began his undergraduate education at Penn State Worthington Scranton. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Temple University in 2004, and is a 1993 graduate of Valley View Junior-Senior High School in Archbald.
Presently, he is a general dentist at Century Dental Associates, with offices in Eynon and Throop.
His dental memberships and accomplishments include membership in the American Dental Association; the Pennsylvania Dental Association; recognition as "One of America's Top Dentists" as chosen by Consumers' Research Council of America 2010; and memberships in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society; Temple University's Stomatognathic Honor Society; the Temple University Oral Surgery Honor Society; the Temple University Endodontology Society; and Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges at Temple University School of Dentistry in 2002-2003.
A native of Jessup, PA, Dr. Hanyon resided there with his mother, Mrs. Karen Hanyon and his brothers Mario, Jessup; and Randy, Clarks Summit. He currently resides in Archbald with his wife, Alison Alunni Hanyon and their son Maximus J.
