Women's softball enters post-season play for first time in over a decade

For the first time in 11 years, Penn State Worthington Scranton's women's softball team will enter post-season play Wednesday at the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) playoffs in Boalsburg, PA.

At 1 PM on Wednesday, April 29, the PSWS Lady Lions (8-8) will take on PS Mont Alto (10-6) at Oak Hall Field, 120 Linden Hall Rd., in Boalsburg during the first round of PSUAC playoffs.

The young team, under the direction of Head Coach John Foy and Assistant Coach Mar Tsakonas, includes five freshman, three sophomores and one junior. This will be the team's first playoff appearance since 2004, and the first under Coach Foy.

With six PSUAC teams in championship contention, if the Lady Lions earn a first round win they will enter round 2 of the playoffs on Wednesday afternoon to determine semi-final standings.

"It is a well-deserved accomplishment for our Lady Lions and coaches to make the playoffs for the first time since 2004. Their dedication and hard work has paid off and we are very proud of them," commented PSWS Athletic Director Jeff Mallas.
