Luncheon and Excellence in Diversity Awards Presentation

Penn State Scranton celebrates Martin Luther King, Jr. Day each year to honor the life and work of civil rights icon Martin Luther King, Jr., and to recognize the campus' commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Keynote Speaker: Amber Viola

A founding member of the Lackawanna County NAACP, serves as acting treasurer and content and media creator. She is known for her campaigns for the Scranton School Board and City Council, as well as her time working at City Hall. A U.S. Navy veteran, Amber returned home in 2019 to advocate for her community. She holds a master’s degree in social work and is a public speaker, podcaster, veterans advocate, content creator, and author of 72 Hours of Hell: My Time in the VA.
