Travel Itinerary

Program Objectives:

The students will experience new landscapes, people, and cultural traditions through the cultural immersion experience while in Croatia, enhanced by mindfulness training.

Students will attain awareness of self and other cultures, traditions, and topography leading to global citizenship perspective.

Critical Analysis
Students will critically reflect on their travel experiences and articulate the ways in which the experiences have shaped themselves as a culturally aware global citizen.

Itinerary for this trip:

Saturday before Spring Break
Travel to Croatia

Depart Newark for Zabgreb, Croatia at 8:45 pm. Change flights in Munich, Germany, to Zagreb, Croatia with arrival in Zagreb on March 4th at 10:30 AM. 

Sunday before Spring Break
Travel by train to Split, Croatia and transfer to hotel.

Visit University of Split. Afternoon and evening at leisure.

University of Split. Walking tour.

Day trip to Bosnia.

Day trip to Zadar. Visit Roman ruins.

Return to Zagreb by train. Visit Zagreb. Overnight in Zagreb.

Depart Zagreb to Frankfurt at 6:40 AM. Arrive Frankfurt at 8:10 AM. Transfer in Frankfurt to JFK, Depart at 10:50 AM and arrive JFK at 1:40 PM.

*Price includes:  Airfare, airport transfers, hotel, breakfast, overnight in Zagreb, walking tours.
*Prices does not include: Lunch, dinner, and optional day trip to Bosnia.

Dr. Renee Bishop-Pierce, associate professor of biology at Penn State Worthington Scranton, will return to Croatia and the Adriatic Coast this summer to continue her research on subterranean ecosystems.
