Design and Development Option

Build information systems

Understand programming, databases, human-computer interaction, knowledge representation, search engines and characteristics of user to build information systems. (Students may complete all 4 years of the degree with this option at the Penn State Worthington Scranton Campus or transfer to another campus after the first two years of study.)

Integration and Application Option

Use information systems to solve problems

Understand information acquisition, representation, dissemination, storage, retrieval, display, and interpretation to address real-world problems. (Students may complete all 4 years of the degree with this option at the Penn State Worthington Scranton Campus or transfer to another campus after the first two years of study.)

Information Context Option

Understand the impact of information systems

Understand the use and impact of information systems at the individual, group, organizational, national, and international levels (e.g., social networks, digital natives/digital immigrants). (Students may complete the first two years of the degree at the Penn State Worthington Scranton Campus and must transfer to Capitol College or University Park to complete the degree with this option.)
