A transition program for college bound high school juniors and seniors.
PAWS Pre-college Academy at Penn State Scranton is a transition program for college bound high school juniors and seniors with special needs. This program is offered by Penn State Scranton and NEIU 19 and designed to increase the student’s comfort level on a college campus.
The PAWS program prepares students for the academic and social adjustments required to successfully transition to and graduate from college.

- Major and Career Exploration
- Information Technology and Library Research
- Time Management and Test Taking
In addition to learning intensive writing and project presentation skills, participants learn from current students how to take notes, prepare for tests, manage their time and control stress management.
Last but not least, we expect participants to make new friends and have fun.
- PAWS Program Schedule:
Orientation will be in September
Program sessions are scheduled one Tuesday each month from October through May,
8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., including lunch
It is expected that students attend all PAWS Program sessions in their entirety. More than two absences may result in dismissal from the program.
