New collaboration expands educational opportunities in Pennsylvania

Penn State’s Commonwealth Campuses and the state’s community colleges have announced a new collaboration aimed at expanding educational opportunities in Pennsylvania and removing barriers to degree completion among college students. The collaboration builds upon long-standing relationships between the campuses and the community colleges and a shared commitment to access and affordability in higher education.

Class of 2024 votes to establish the UPUA Basic Needs Endowment

At an event held on Oct. 31, leaders from the Student Philanthropy Network announced that the class of 2024 has voted to create the University Park Undergraduate Association Basic Needs Endowment as their class gift. The fund will provide sustained support for students facing hardships in pursuit of their degree.

Nese College of Nursing hosts Jean Vallance/WE LEAD Inspirational Leader Lecture

Taura L. Barr, associate professor of clinical nursing at Ohio State University’s College of Nursing, will be the speaker at the Penn State Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing's 2023  joint Jean Vallance Lecture in Nursing Innovation/WE LEAD Inspirational Leader Speaker Series on Friday, March 31, at the Wyndham Garden State College. The lecture will be offered in-person as well as via webinar.

Resources, support and ways to help in Turkey, Syria following earthquake

Roger Brindley, vice provost for Penn State Global; Andrea Dowhower interim vice president for Student Affairs; and Renata Engel, vice provost for online education, share resources available for individuals who have been impacted by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey, as well as ways to help with the rescue and recovery.

Penn State Scranton alumnus gives back to student veterans

Penn State Scranton alumnus and U.S. veteran E.J. Long committed $20,000 for a Veterans’ Lounge in the campus' Study Learning Center. The lounge is a quiet, private space for those students who are veterans now working on their college degrees and needing a quiet, private space to study or take a break from their classes and the daily grind, where they can relax and decompress.

Penn State Scranton dedicates new Engineering Building

Penn State Scranton dedicated its new Engineering Building on Oct. 6 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that featured Penn State President Neeli Bendapudi as a keynote speaker and approximately 100 guests, including University and community leaders, donors, faculty, staff and students.

Commonwealth Campus websites receive modern look, comprehensive update

A new look and feel will greet visitors to Penn State’s Commonwealth Campus websites beginning June 21. The refreshed websites, which apply to each of the University’s Commonwealth Campuses, are the result of in-depth research on user needs and best practices, resulting in modern, mobile-friendly and engaging sites that highlight the power of Penn State’s campus communities.
